FAQ
Can’t find your question? Send it our way — if enough people ask, it ends up here.
General
Section titled “General”How much does binthere cost?
Section titled “How much does binthere cost?”binthere is free to download and use for a personal inventory. Heavy AI usage (lots of bulk scans and value estimates) may require you to plug in your own Anthropic API key — that cost goes directly to Anthropic, not to us.
Does it work offline?
Section titled “Does it work offline?”Yes. binthere is offline-first. Create bins, add items, scan QR codes, check things in and out — all without a connection. Sync happens in the background when you’re online.
Can I use it without an account?
Section titled “Can I use it without an account?”Yes. You can skip sign-in entirely and use binthere as a local-only app on one device. You’ll miss out on:
- Sync across your iPhone and iPad
- Household sharing
- Cloud backup
You can sign in later and your existing data will upload.
Does it have an Android version?
Section titled “Does it have an Android version?”Not yet. binthere is iOS-only at launch. Let us know if you want Android — if there’s demand, we’ll look into it.
Is there an iPad version?
Section titled “Is there an iPad version?”binthere runs on iPad today but isn’t optimized for it. A proper iPad layout is on the roadmap — vote for it.
How accurate is the AI cataloging?
Section titled “How accurate is the AI cataloging?”Very accurate for common household objects — tools, sports gear, electronics, clothes, books. Less accurate for highly specialized items (rare parts, antiques, obscure brands). You always review before saving, so wrong guesses are quick to fix.
Does AI work offline?
Section titled “Does AI work offline?”No. AI features require a connection because they call the Anthropic API. Everything else in binthere works offline.
Is my data used to train AI models?
Section titled “Is my data used to train AI models?”No. Photos you send via AI scan are used only to generate the response. Anthropic does not train on API data.
Privacy & data
Section titled “Privacy & data”Where is my data stored?
Section titled “Where is my data stored?”Locally on your device (always) and in your Supabase account (if you sign in and enable cloud sync). You own your data. You can export it any time and delete your account any time — which fully removes everything.
Do you sell my data?
Section titled “Do you sell my data?”No. No ads, no trackers, no data brokers. Read the privacy policy for the full breakdown.
How do I delete my account?
Section titled “How do I delete my account?”Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your auth record, household memberships, items, photos, and everything else. Non-reversible.
QR codes & NFC
Section titled “QR codes & NFC”Can I use stickers I already have?
Section titled “Can I use stickers I already have?”QR: yes, if they encode the right URL. Easiest path is to re-print binthere’s generated labels on adhesive paper.
NFC: any blank NDEF-writable tag works. See NFC tags for details.
What if I scratch up a QR label?
Section titled “What if I scratch up a QR label?”The 4-character code (e.g. D4J6) is printed big on the label on purpose — type it into the search bar and it opens the bin.
Household sharing
Section titled “Household sharing”How many people can share a household?
Section titled “How many people can share a household?”Up to 8 members per household. If you need more, let us know.
Can members see each other’s checkout history?
Section titled “Can members see each other’s checkout history?”Yes — a household is a shared inventory, so checkout history is visible to other members. Viewer-role members can see but not modify.

Sync isn’t working
Section titled “Sync isn’t working”- Check you’re online
- Pull down to refresh on the Zones screen — this forces a sync
- Settings → Account → Sign out and back in if it’s really stuck
- Report it if it keeps happening
AI analysis failed
