Getting started

Welcome. Here’s the fastest path from “install” to “never losing stuff again.”

Grab binthere on the App Store. Requires iOS 17 or later.

Pick any of:

  • Sign in with Apple — fastest, no password
  • Sign in with Google
  • Email + password

Your inventory syncs across your devices automatically. Want to try it first without an account? You can use binthere fully offline — sign-in only kicks in when you turn on cloud sync or household sharing.

Zones are rooms or broad locations — Garage, Attic, Office, Storage Unit. Tap the Zones tab, then +. Give it a name, pick an icon, and choose a color.

Already set up rooms in the Apple Home app? Tap Import from Home and binthere pulls them in.

Inside a zone, tap + Bin. Give it a name (e.g. “Holiday decorations”) and a color. binthere auto-generates a short code like D4J6 for the bin — you’ll see it on the label.

On the bin detail screen, tap Print label. You get a PDF with the bin code front and center, a QR code underneath, and the bin name on top. Print, stick it on the box.

Open the bin, tap the camera button, point it at the open bin, and snap a photo. Claude identifies each item and pre-fills name, description, tags, and an estimated value. Review, tweak, save.

Prefer to type? Tap + Item and fill it out by hand.

Lending something out? Tap an item → Check out. Add who has it and an expected return date. binthere sends a reminder the day it’s due.

Three ways:

  • Scan the QR code on a bin to jump straight to its contents
  • Tap an NFC-tagged bin with your phone
  • Search the Items tab across every bin in your household

That’s it. You’ve got a searchable inventory of everything you own.
