Bins & QR labels
Bins are the core unit of binthere — any container you want to track. A cardboard box, a plastic tote, a drawer, a cabinet, a shelf, a toolbox.
Creating a bin
Section titled “Creating a bin”From any zone, tap + Bin. You set:
- Name — what’s in it, or a label like “Toolbox #2”
- Color — for at-a-glance visual grouping
- Description (optional) — freeform notes
binthere auto-generates a 4-character code like D4J6. This is the short ID you’ll see on the printed label — handy for calling out (“grab bin D4J6”) or for manually searching.
Printing labels
Section titled “Printing labels”Open a bin and tap Print label. The PDF includes:
- The bin name at the top
- The 4-character code, large and readable from across a room
- A QR code that opens the bin in binthere when scanned
- The zone name
Print on a regular printer, trim, and tape or stick to the bin.
Scanning a bin
Section titled “Scanning a bin”From the Scan tab, point your camera at the QR label. binthere opens the bin instantly. If the QR is scratched up or missing, type the 4-character code into the search bar — same result.
